Hillview Happenings
“Hillview Happenings” February 2026
Dear Hillview Families,
Our faculty and staff members have truly enjoyed working with your children throughout the first half of the school year. We look forward to all of the special events that are planned for the second semester.
Please join us for the PTO’s Winter Family Movie Night on Wednesday, February 4th from 6:00-7:30 pm in our gymnasium. Hillview will also participate in the 13th annual districtwide “Week of Kindness” (February 9th – 13th) to further promote character education. Every LCSD school has generated a variety of special activities to celebrate throughout the week.
During the Week of Kindness, Hillview students and staff members will participate in service projects for our community. We will create Valentine’s Day cards for local veterans and decorate grocery bags with uplifting messages for the customers at Tops grocery store next door. We will also be collecting change for the “WNY Compassion Connection” organization. This group helps to support children and families after the death of a loved one. All donations will be greatly appreciated. Our PTO is also sponsoring a character education assembly called “Jacob Drops.” Additional thoughtful activities, including a spirit week, are planned throughout that week.
Now that we are past the halfway point in the school year, I wanted to send a friendly safety reminder. Please remember when coming to the school at any time (visiting inside the school, picking a child up during the day or at the end of the day pick up), you will need to have your government issued photo ID. If you are picking up your child at dismissal, you will also need the orange pick up card that was issued to you at the beginning of the school year. Thank you for your assistance with these school safety requests.
Happy Valentine’s Day on February 14th and Happy 100th Day of School on February 24th! Enjoy the mid-winter recess (February 16th – 20th) with your family and friends. It is a perfect time to play outside in the snow, visit the public library to borrow books or enjoy a game night with family members. Lastly, we will conclude the month with a Sabres’ spirit day (students can also wear blue and gold colors) on February 27th.
We are excited to begin the second half of the school year together at Hillview!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Moeller
Principal
Allergy information:
Each year, the faculty and staff at Hillview Elementary School strive to provide the best educational program and setting for our students. Their safety and welfare are top priorities. At Hillview, we have students who have severe food allergies. There are students who cannot have any products that are made from tree nuts, peanuts or with any nut by-products, including peanut oil and/or peanut butter. Others cannot have milk, milk products, eggs, mustard, kiwi, soy, wheat/gluten or meats/seafood.
We respectfully request that birthday or holiday treats do not contain nuts or use nuts as decorations. Please let your child know that some students may not be able to accept treats because of possible allergy restrictions. If you are unsure of the suitability of any treat, please check with the classroom teacher or Mrs. Bacher. In addition, many of the food and candy companies have an “800” telephone number that will provide additional information. If your child has a food allergy and wants to bring in his/her own allergy-safe treat for a celebration, please feel free to make those arrangements with his/her teacher. We also request that if students plan on celebrating their birthdays at school, that they bring in enough treats for just their class, since there will not be opportunities to share with other classrooms or staff members.
We greatly appreciate your support with these requests. It is because of parental support that our school continues to be a special and safe place for all children.

Virtual Backpack
Here you will find informational flyers from the school, the PTO, and community organizations. Postings are organized by month and category. They are posted as printable PDFs to afford easy access for parents. They will remain accessible throughout the year, which means no more searching through your child's backpack looking for a lost flyer!
New Policy:
At this time, paper copies of all school-sponsored events will also be sent home with students. However, flyers from community organizations will ONLY be posted to our Virtual Backpack and will no longer be sent home with each child.
Community organizations may submit flyers in PDF form to our Superintendent's office for approval and should not be interpreted as District sponsorship of an event or endorsement of any organization. The information is posted by the District as a community service. The approval process for the distribution of flyers has not changed.
